Motorbike Memorial rally
The pennypincher household has been up since the crack of dawn. It is the Derek Healey Memorial Motorbike rally today. Derek was my hubby’s uncle, who died suddenly of a fatal heart attack, 22 years ago. Every year the local motor club arrange a Memorial Rally in memory of Derek, he used to own the local motorbike shop and was the vice president of the Motor club.
So today my hubby has got his motorbike out and gone off on the rally, they are going to ride through Stokesley, then round to Egton Bridge and then back to the Motor Club for lunch. Me and ds2 are meeting them for lunch and it will be nice to catch up at the club (other pics will follow this afternoon
)
Some of bikes after the rally, parked up whilst the Bikers enjoy Sunday lunch!
We had a fab sunday lunch and sweet!!
Log fires and Minestrone soup!!
We have all woke up freezing today, as you can see from my weather pixie, it is only about 12c, the wind is howling round our little house!!! Hubby has been given the job of putting a log fire on and I had made for the very first time Minestrone soup. I used the recipe from the teacher net, that I spoke about in the post below.
Its is not quite cooked yet, but it has made our house smells divine!!
Home made spicy tomato soup!
It is really cold here today, so I decided to warm myself up by preparing a home made spicy tomato soup and it was really easy, very filling and cheap to make!!
I got the recipe from realmeals/recipes, this is a copy of the booklet that the UK Government has recently issued to all 11 year olds. They are some great recipes on there. I am gonna print some of them off and laminate them.
I have left some for oh to try for after he finishes work this afternoon! Well it has certainly warmed me up, I am off out now for a long walk with our girl dog!!!

Wall Street crash again???
It’s been nearly seventy nine years since Wall Street crashed in the midst of the ‘roaring Twenties, but are we going to see another crash?? All the signs of an impending crash are evident, as discussed here today :dailymail
This article in the Times sums it up: timesonline!!!!!!!!
If there were to be another ‘Crash’ how would it effect us in the UK?
You may presume that it would’nt affect us here in the UK, but it would!!!
An article in the Guardian familyfinanouce.moneyinvestments warns us that overdrafts may be called in, we would see many more house repossessions and anyone who dabbles in the stocks and shares will be in for ‘White Knuckle Ride’ so beware!!!!! One expert warned not to be so worried about your returns, but worry about getting any of your investment back!!!
Whilst a Crash could be looming, Electricity companies here are warning us of more bill rises and power cuts, similar to what we witnessed in 1974 – www.dailymail.co.uk!!!!
Many people are already living in poverty, what with recent food price rises, recent petrol costs rocketing and all of our households bills steadily rising. I dread to think what the consquences of ’crash’ would be?
For years and years people have been living beyond their means. We all know people who have been greedy and very materialistic, they seem to have been driven by consumerism, to have a massive house; to have a huge new car; to buy their children every new gadget going; to have their children dressed in expensive designer/sports gear: is all they want from life!!! Basically, its the worlds greed and materialism that has driven us into this Money Meltdown!!!!!
Pennypincher steps down of her soap box
Sunny September Sunday
Good afternoon!
We have had a couple of beautiful sunny days here in North Yorkshire, which makes a very change to all that rain we had in August! It has really perked up the pennypincher household.
We all have had a very productive week, Ds2 had a lovely birthday and then found out he had won a place in the new school’s Football A team!!! They have their first match on Tuesday evening!!!
So after a very motivating week, I have completed my to do list for this winter:-

3) ring decorator to get a quote to paint 7 newly hung interior doors and price to re decorate lounge

5) stock up with coal for the winter
6) begin hamper making for christmas
7) book and pay for winter holiday in February for Mr Penny Pinchers 40th Birthday
8) re -jig over payments to mortgage pig, as our summer holiday this year has seen it come to a standstill, must revisit plan and adjust accordingly!
