Just back from the hairdressers, which is another job done, however next door to my hairdressers is a charity shop, I always pop in and have a mouch. Here are today finds:
two retro pyrex steak plates for a £1!!!
and a retro cookbook, the complete farmhouse kitchen cookbook published in 1975 by Yorkshire Television! I am just having a quick look through and hope to post some retro recipes on here later!

His School football team has just won theWilf_MannionLeague 1 Cup for 2008!!!! It was a two day tournament with over 56 teams taking part and they have won!!!! Yay!
I think they were sooo close to winning on Saturday, when they came 3rd runners up, that they wanted this badly!!
Needless to say I am very proud and here are the pics!!!
His trophy: ( statute of Wilf Mannion, nicked named ‘Golden Boy’ in the 1940’s)
and they also won a watch/ pod foot and memory stick set:
Garmin sports bottle: (Garmin are Boro’s sponsers)
It’s all happened since he got his new boots?? Do you think it’s a case of Billy’s_Boots??? lol
Mortgage pig!!
Good Evening
Been back at work today, after 4 days off. It wasn’t so bad, the new team I am working with are soo lovely, which really does make a difference, to staff moral and keeping motivated!
With keeping motivated in mind, I have decided to set up a ‘Mortgage Pig’. As you can see from my picture of the blue pig, it is actually a pig, but any pot or jar would be ok to use. My intention is to put any spare monies into the pig, every month, then make an overpayment on our existing 12 year mortgage!
To find out how quickly you could pay your mortgage of, this way, there is a brilliant calculator here:
egg.com. I have calculated that by paying extra every month, we could possibly pay ours off in 5 years, instead of 12!! By doing this you can save a fortune in interest and then off course have more free money!!
I have had to get my ‘thinking cap’ on, as to ways in which I can fill this pig, these are some ways:
Sell on ebay again!
sell unwanted books on amazon
put any loose change from pockets into pig daily
put any left over money at end of month into pig!
continue with menu planning, order food online and home cook as much as possible
hang washing out in the summer, not using tumble drier, only in an emergency!
I will let you know how this is going and I need encouragement!! :)
Happy Father’s Day!
Happy Fathers Day!
This is a photo of the top that I and ds2 bought hubby for Fathers Day. After he received his pressie, which he is really chuffed with, he had full english breakfast in bed!
He has the work this afternoon, however when he arrives home, I will be cooking him his favourite curry, Nigella’s Green Thai curry:
Hope every Dad has a good day!! ![]()
Football!!
Morning,
Ds2 has a new pair of football boots! He also has an all day football tournment today, so I have just dropped him of at the local sports centre, where I have never seen so many 11 year boys running round crazyilly!
Hubby is also out for the day, he has gone walking up in the hills in North Yorkshire!! So that leaves free all day!!! hurray! So I have decided I am going to do a lil bit of shopping and a lil bit of blogging!
I am collecting ds2 later this afternoon, so I will take some more photos then! :)
Ds2’s team came 3rd runners up!!
Tonight I am one proud mum!! :)
‘Me Day’
After frantically catching up with all my housework yesterday, I have declared today a ‘Me Day’.
Ds2 has gone to school and I have dropped hubby off for a day at the Races in York. It’s a stagg party, they are meeting for English Cooked breakfast at 9 am, before being collected by the minibus for a day at the Races! I have told not to spend too much money and I just hope he wins some!
lol!
So, with everyone out the way, I am just getting ready to go out for Lunch with my eldest son, who is 23. We are going one of my favourite Country pubs for Lunch, royaloak-hotel in Great Ayton. Do you remember I went there in May half term holiday with my best friend and I really enjoyed it, so I can’t wait to go back.
Also, as part of my ‘Me day’ tonight whilst watching the Big Brother Eviction, me and ds2 are gonna order takeaway pizza! I know my day is not very frugal and money saving, but after working sooo hard for the past year I reckon sometimes it’s good for the soul to have a pamper day, every now and again !!!! : )
Edited……. here is what my son had a Middlesbrough Parmo!!

I live and work in North Yorkshire. I am married and have two boys, (11 & 23) and a fab black labrador, who is the total baby of the family!
