I have just joined Hugh’s campaign to buy only free range chickens, after watching his programme last night. I am determined now to buy only free range chickens, even though they are a little more expensive, Hugh has totally convined me of that. see for yourself  chickenout.tv/ , you can join the campaign there also

Snow, Snow go away, come back another day!!!

 snow_route.jpg

I went back to work on Thursday and it was only the first day of winter for us to get snow!! eeekkkkk (typical!! )

I nearly died when I looked out of the window on Thursday morning to see 2 inches of snow, I screamed at hubby (who was off work, tucked up in bed with the dog keeping him warm ), that was no justice and why off all the days to snow, was it today??? He just laughed and snuggled under the duvet, whilst I stormed round the bedroom!    Well you can imagine it filled me with dread, as I have to drive 50 miles, there and back. It got thicker as I reached work, about 5 inches in depth!!

It’s  not so much the driving in it that I don’t like, its the fact that I suffer from  Raynaud’s_phenomenon  and if the car broke down, they would probably find me blue up the arms or something??? ( I know I exaggerate a little sometimes, but you get the gist me and snow and me  just don’t go!!! )

Well, I battled through and got there eventually, I tried to put diesel in the car and it was that cold that the  locking petrol cap had frozen!!

So it was quite a trauma on Thursday morning, to say the least. It was ok when I got there and had a couple of coffee’s, actually it was nice to be back. I wished everyone ‘Happy New Year’ and then caught up with what has happening over Christmas, it was lovely to focus on something different and I was so looking forward to  eating normal’ food’ again, I think I  just wanted something not Christmasys, like egg and chips!! IKWIM???

Anyway, Mr. T has just delivered next weeks food and my menu plan looks something like this:

Monday lunch :  take  home made curried parsnip soup to work for lunch.

Monday tea: chicken madras curry, brown rice  and nans

Tuesday Lunch: turkey sandwiches with fruit (note buy satsumas  and veg from farm next door )

Tuesday tea: meat feast pizza, rocket salad and jacket potatoes

Wednesday Lunch: humous, pitta bread and ham slices

Wednesday tea: Oven baked cod, gnocchi and peas

Thursday lunch: cupasoup and ham sandwiches on wholemeal bread

Thursday tea: Nigella’s green thai  chicken curry with soya beans, brown rice and nans

Friday: treat day, bacon sandwich with brown sauce from our staff canteen  :)

Friday tea: scampi, oven chips and peas( After tea I am putting sc on to try a new potato peelings soup for sat. lunch)

Blagghhh!!! Back to work blues!!

 winter.jpg

Ok,  it’s back to work for most of us, the festivities  are over and time to get organised and motivated! I have decided to make a couple of New Year resolutions,

1) To walk a lot more in 2008. Me and the labrador will increase our daily walk to round a bigger block, instead of the small one

2) Pay off the credit card! eeekk

3) Take packed lunch into work everyday, saving about £3.00 a day, £15 a week or £60 a month, £720 a year!!

4) Save enough for some essential repairs in our house.

5) Make more’ me time’, try and relax more. Eg: take long lush baths and listen to some chill out cd’s

6) Stay positve and focused

7) Plan and organise this years summer holiday, via the moneysaving travel board.( last year ’sloopy chops’ travel agent found us a great holiday in Spain for £400 for 10 days, half board on the sea front, including flights for three of us)

8) Do more work on my blog book  :)

I have just been reading a couple of articles about banishing away those Winter/January blues, this one is good .dailyrecord.co.uk/ and don’t forget to plug in and switch those full spectrum light bulbs, so that it boosts your serotonin  during the winter, when we don’t  get enough natural sunlight
