About me:
welcome to my penny pinching pantry :)
This is my favourite selection of frugal, old fashioned recipes. please feel free to comment and add to them. I am a huge Nigella Lawson fan and there are loads of her recipes featured here, mostly they are from her latest series, Nigella Express.
I live and work in North Yorkshire. I am married and have two boys, (11 & 23) and a fab black labrador, who is the total baby of the family!

I’ve just found your site - I love it and will be bookmarking.
My Grandma used to make Panakelty regularly (she was from Chopwell) and would add cut up sausages and bacon to the corned beef. This was one of my favourite meals, the way the potatoes would be crispy on top and mushy underneath seemed a magical combination! Grandma was known for arguing about stotties with the staff in Greggs - she knew them as Yestie Cakes!
Sorry for the long post but you’ve brought back some great memories!
Hi Beth,
so glad you like my blog, it has become a bit of an obession! Some of the other recipes I read for panakelty mentioned using bacon as well.
The stoties -I have never heard them called yesties cakes though!
glad I brought back some nice memories
love meg x
